Every operation is carried out in our workshop and traced by batch, through to delivery of the finished product.
Watch jewellery
Laser (spot welding and build-up), torch and band-furnace welding, casting rework, adjustment and repairs on cases. Our jewellers work all case components, in steel, alloy or precious metal, on one-off pieces and production runs, in coordination with the polishers.
FinishingPolishing
Mirror polish, satin-finishing, sandblasting, hammering and mixed polished-brushed finish on all case components, including deep zones and complex geometries. Ultrasonic cleaning after polishing.
SurfaceCase assembly
Full case assembly: crystal, crown, case back, bracelet. Each component is checked before fitting, tightening is done to the required torques and a visual check is made at every stage.
AssemblyCrystal bonding
Bonding of sapphire or mineral crystals on cases and case backs, by UV adhesive or in a temperature-controlled oven depending on the piece. Inspection under the binocular microscope after bonding.
Water resistanceMovement assembly and casing
Movement assembly ranges from the movement alone to the complete sub-assembly, with dial and hands fitted, depending on the level required. Casing: the movement is fitted and secured in the case, then water-resistance tested. Functional check before release.
MovementFinal inspection
Full visual inspection of the case, functional movement test, instrumented water resistance test. Any non-conformity is isolated and recorded before shipment. No unvalidated piece leaves the workshop.
InspectionTurnkey after-sales
Full management: photographic inventory on receipt, written diagnosis, work after approval, intervention report and packed return.

Full management of the return flow: diagnosis, disassembly, restoration, reassembly and final inspection. Batch traceability and a single point of contact throughout the process.
Receipt and diagnosis
Part registration, condition assessment and entry report.
Disassembly
Complete disassembly of movement and case. Ultrasonic cleaning of components.
Restoration
Replacement of defective parts. Refinishing if required.
Reassembly and adjustment
Reassembly to original specifications. Function and precision adjustment.
Inspection and dispatch
Instrumented water resistance test, full functional verification, packaging and dispatch.

Independent brand
Regular or occasional production, variable volumes, service levels to meet. CLD adapts to the brand's rhythm, with no minimum batch constraint.
Watch manufacture
Internal capacity saturated on a production peak, operation outsourced on a one-off or structural basis. The manufacture hands over its surplus without lowering its standards.
Subcontractor
Operation not mastered in-house, production surplus or flow to complete in order to deliver a finished product. CLD steps in at the end of the chain to close what the subcontractor cannot handle alone.

CLD Design SA is an independent watchmaking subcontractor based in Plan-les-Ouates. We operate downstream from machining workshops to handle all finishing, assembly and inspection operations, through to delivery of the finished product.
A client can entrust us with a single operation or the whole sequence. Either way, the work stays in our workshop.
